Antico Fio is a beautifully restored country house set in superb grounds close to and with fabulous views of the ancient Tuscan Hill Town of Poppi which is considered by many to be one of the finest examples of its type in Italy. Despite this, it is in an area which is relatively unspoiled and as such does not suffer from an invasion of coach loads of tourists, remaining instead to be the secret of the independent traveller.

Within the area, there are so many places to explore, with Florence, Siena, Arezzo and all the Tuscan villages, towns and cities being within easy reach. The site borders the Casentino National Park.

The farmhouse is constructed of local stone and chestnut and many of the original features of the house have been retained and beautifully incorporated into the accommodation.

The building is split into a number of rental suites – some individual small houses with two or three bedrooms and bathrooms, others into smaller guest suites which form convenient spaces for the the smaller parties, couples or individuals. Consequently, Antico Fio can satisfy all needs from large groups of perhaps 8 people downwards. These guest suites are all called after local flowers.

Sensitive restoration, attention to detail in both buildings and furnishing and a personal approach is what makes Antico Fio so successful – encouraging many guests to return year after year. A 'tuscan feel' is obvious throughput, with hard furniture being mainly made from solid chestnut and local cloths and fabrics used for the soft furnishings and upholstery. Each suite or house is spacious and offers full kitchens and well appointed bathrooms.

Despite the fact that there are several holiday suites on the site, Antico Fio gives a feeling of spaciousness and privacy throughout. There are large grassed areas, gardens, small private 'nooks and crannies' and a large – very large swimming pool which like all the grounds gives a great view of the ancient town of Poppi with its old castle on the top.

As well as the pool, plentiful sunbeds and umbrellas, there is a children's play area, indoor recreational space, pizza oven and ample shaded parking. beautiful flower displays and the whole site is well illuminated at night.

Being situated in probably one of the most famous parts of Italy for food, it would be appropriate that there is a communal vegetable garden where guests are welcome to harvest the fresh produce.
